Electric Bloom

The best feeling in spring is taking out your dresses out for a stroll in the city as its just starting to warm up! Luckily I got to wear a new gifted dress from a friend that I absolutely adore! I'm a sucker for floral print and smitten to have this in my closet. I also took my vintage boots from Vintage Mix 1! It is such a lovely vintage store near my home and I am always delighted to drop in for a visit! I accessorized lightly with a small gold necklace from Topshop, and a ring from Urban Outfitters. The light jean jacket was necessary to keep from the chilly winds in the evening.

Moving (again)

I'm so excited to finally being able to reunite with my friends and family! I will also be able to continue my studies hopefully in my dream city of Chicago. In good time tho, it's all a process and I will most likely be organizing everything for a while in the small town I grew up in MN.

I had such mixed feelings about the decision I took on leaving the US after high school graduation but it taught me a lot while growing up, met numerous amount of amazing people, went through some breath taking experiences and traveled! Since it's summer and school is out I will be posting a lot of summer outfits in Toronto before I move.

Here's a little preview of my life out in the world whilst waiting for my visa.

Good Morning Night

The topic of my video montage is a relationship between two people and how they enjoy spending time together. The shooting was done on separate days and occasions planned to fit accordingly with cohesion of the story about spending an entire day together.  The settings include a record store, a restaurant, a park, on a streetcar, a photo booth, a bus, and the apartment where they end the day. All shots have been framed and recorded by myself with the use of a tripod. Color filters where used to manipulate certain shots to fit the mood and place. I chose the passing lights from the bus’s window shot to be black and white because it ties accordingly with the previous night shots instead of showing the overwhelming tones of fluorescent light. The still frames are the photos taken at the scene of the photo booth. The sound used in this video montage is a song by The Raveonettes, “Sad Transmission” and it is used throughout the entire video. I chose this song because the lyrics are affectionate, loving and it relates to the relationship between the main characters. The main characters I chose to be my boyfriend Agoston and me. The project successfully satisfied me with the goal of completing my final assignment for the course but it also gave me something to keep and share with him for all those times he has been my best friend and companion in Canada. I Could Go Anywhere With You And I’d Probably Be Happy

I was so happy I got to capture today's outfit even though I was not able to use my Nikon D-70 (it died by the way.) I'm going to have to rely on the school's photo cage loan of the Nikon D7000 that I have been itching to buy for so long! Its price is starting to sweetly go down thanks to the new D7100 so things are looking good as long as they don't sell them all out! So to summarize: sorry for the lo quality photos.
I got to wear my new shirt dress that I thrifted from Kind Exchange! The weather still isn't warm enough for spring time dresses so I was happy this was my first wear of the season. I paired it up with my elastic belt from Topshop, fleece tights, knee socks, Dr Martens boots (not pictured) and a cute lil bottle necklace from Urban Outfitters.

I also forgot to show off my new frames! I got this cute pair of Paul Frank thick frames a while back around November from Clearly Contacts. I was so relieved to see their promotion for free frames around the time because I was in desperate need to replace the only pair that I didn't like to wear and a girl needs to see clearly! I've gotten so many compliments on them from friends and teachers!

In The Darkroom

I recently shot a couple of photos in black & white film and got a chance to develop, and make prints myself. I am so excited to be shooting film again! I took some photos around my neighborhood, and some from when I go visit Ago on the weekends. I got some of my favorite shots in Toronto of a cute little, retro, vintage record store and Rescue vintage! My dream is to one day have my own darkroom in the basement of my home.
